 Establishment and Growth Founded in 2014, the Department of Surgery began with: Two faculty members Dr. Ammar Hameed Hweidi as founding chair Initial focus: teaching general surgery principles to third-year students Current Scope The department has expanded to provide: 

  1.  Comprehensive surgical education for 4th-6th year students
  2.  Specialized training in surgical subspecialties
  3. Leadership from multiple accomplished surgeons over the years Vision and Mission
