Obstetrics-&-Gynecology

Department of Obstetrics &Gynecology   was established at the Fallujah College of Medicine in the 2016 year, and it is one of the four clinical departments. The department worked to achieve integration with other branches in the college and also focused on giving theoretical lectures, practical training in hospitals, and observing surgical operations.  Vision, mission and goals for the department:vision:It seeks to be one of the most important and distinguished branches in the college and to develop clinical skills and advance scientific researches.message:Preparing the male or female doctor in a professional manner, with attention to the human aspect and ethical dealings in gynecology.objectives:1- Focus on basic knowledge of obstetrics and gynecology and obtain a solid foundation in this subject.2- Providing medical students with the opportunity to use the best options in treating their patients and developing their abilities and skills.3- Strengthening the relationship between the student and his teachers, even after his graduation, in order to preserve the continuity of the educational process.

Historical overview of the department of  surgery:The department of Surgery was established in the academic year 2014 and began teaching the principles of general surgery to third-year students. When the branch was established, the number of teaching staff in it was two, and the first head of the department  was Dr. Ammar Hamid Huwaidy. After that, the department  continued to teach various topics in general surgery and its branches to students. In the fourth, fifth and sixth stages, a number of surgeons have rotated in heading the department  since its founding until now.Vision :  Excellence and raising the level of surgical education to prepare high-level cadres.the message :  Teaching medical students to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for a life full of learning, developing personal capabilities and contributing to society, advancing knowledge through research and scholarship with an international reputation, and providing graduates with the attributes appropriate to the needs of society.Objectives :1. Providing medical students with the concepts of the art and science of surgery.2. Train students in surgery to a level that enables them to practice surgery safely and conscientiously, initially under the supervision of fellow surgeons.3. Introducing modern technologies in student training.4. Informing students about the latest developments in surgical science.5. Providing health institutions with qualified personnel in quantity and quality.6. Work to achieve a high level in less time without compromising on quality.7. Attracting scientific competencies from other ministries to supplement the educational system in the branch.Administrative composition of the department of Surgery:1- The Surgery Branch currently consists of (11) teachers who carry out the task of theoretical teaching and clinical training for students in the third, fourth, and fifth stages in addition to the sixth stage in several subjects, including general surgery, urology, thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, orthopedic surgery, and ophthalmic  surgery And diagnostic x-rays.The following are the names of the faculty members, along with their academic title and academic achievement, in addition to their specialty:Name, exact specialty, certificate, academic title1. Dr. Nour Hussein Abadi, , Master in Ophthalmology , Lecturer2- Administrators: The department  consists of one employee who manages the branch and organizes administrative and secretarial work Wael Firas Yahya, Bachelor of CommunicationsResearch  :Teachers write research for a number of journals at the college and national levels, in addition to some international journals in the fields of surgery, including what has been published in reputable international journals with a high impact factor. In addition, there is an annual plan for teaching about future research according to areas of interest. Below is a table that shows some of the research and practical interests of surgical specialties.Specialization: Areas of research interest for teachers1 General and pediatric surgery - - Research on common surgical conditions, including accident surgery.- - Laparoscopic surgery.- - Early detection of breast and large intestine cancers.2 Urology - - Research on urinary tract stones and different treatment methods.- - Reconstructive urinary surgery and urinary incontinence research.- - Infertility research and treatment.3 Orthopedics and Traumatology - Research in diagnostic and therapeutic arthroscopic surgery of the knee joint.- - Knee and hip replacement research.- - Research on various treatments for fractures and types of fixation.4 Eye surgery - - Research on reducing blindness in Iraq.- - Research on recent developments in diseases of the cornea, iris and retina.5 Thoracic, cardiovascular and cardiovascular surgery - accident surgery research and various heart operations.6 X-rays - Research on diagnostic x-rays (resonance imaging and ultrasound)7 Ear, Nose and Throat - Research on different treatment methods for ear, nose and throat diseases.Infrastructure :The department  consists of one room. That  contains two offices and is equipped with one calculator and data display devices.Community Service :Faculty members perform services in community service through their work as specialist doctors in the fields of surgery at Fallujah Teaching Hospital, where the teaching staff works in consulting clinics and specialized centers in addition to performing emergency operations and cold cases inside and outside official working hours. Some faculty members also participate in Health campaigns on religious and official occasions and holidays.

Community Medicine

The Family and Community Medicine is considered as one of the basic branches in medical colleges. Mission: To raise the scientific and research level of the medical students   to be doctors capable of describing society’s problems and then developing appropriate plans and programs to promote health and solving the problems among members of society.Vision: The Family and Community Medicine Department aims to provide the students with the sciences, knowledge and skills that aim to:-  Analyze, diagnose, treat, prevent and control common diseases (communicable and non-communicable diseases) in the community - Providing the student with the basic skills necessary to conduct the medical research.Learning and teaching methods are conducted via: Theoretical lectures, seminars, workshops and practical exercises & field visits to the primary health care centers and teaching hospitals.
